94 days until Christmas....
Can you believe it? It is barely Halloween and Costco already has Christmas decor out! Crazy.
Anyway, I will follow suit and share one of the cards I made for a Christmas Card swap at Convention. It is a shaker card using gumball green, cherry cobbler and vanilla cardstock. Inside the shaker frame is dazzling diamonds, the prettiest snow you will ever find. ;)

Thanks Team Canada!
As another summer Olympics comes to a close, I wanted extend a huge thanks to Team Canada for a wonderful Olympics. The medals were great but it was the losses, namely the DQ of the 4x100m Canadian track team which also provided an excellent learning opportunity for my kids: Jared Connaughton showed strength in character by owning up to his mistake, apologizing for it and not placing blame on anybody but himself...as a mom trying to raise kids with integrity, this was far more valuable than a bronze medal.
Below is a card I made for general swapping at Convention. I found this on Pinterest by Sarah Wills and LOVED its simplicity.

...that is the number of these beauties that I made. CRAZY, you ask? Yes I am and it was. But once I saw them here I *knew* they would be perfect for the WOW swap at Convention. Some extra helping hands were involved in the construction of these cards: Ludivine, dimensional-applier extraordinaire and Andy, dimensional expert, professional swap labeller and packager. I can't forget Sue who saved me HOURS of work by advising me to make the stars using a scoring tool dipped in white acrylic paint. Thanks guys for all of your help...it was GREATLY appreciated.
My front room was invaded by 328 aliens:
In case you would like to duplicate these (hehe), here are the following supplies:
Paper: pacific point CS/DSP, real red CS/DSP, lucky limeade, so saffron, basic black
Stamps: make a monster
Ink: basic black, lucky limeade
Punches: 1/16”, ¼”, ½”, 1¼” circle punches, Itty Bitty Shapes Punch Pack, word window
Accessories: sponges, googlie eyes, pennies, scoring tool, white acrylic paint

And the winner is.....
Cheryl Hirst for being the WORST BLOGGER EVER!! I know, I know and I am sorry, especially to the 5 people who continue to check to see if I have updated the blog...you are extremely loyal and I greatly appreciate it! :)
You may know that I lost my job at the National Microbiology Lab, the unfortunate result of drastic reduction in funding in the research lab I worked in. This seems to be the trend seen in many research labs so for now I will focus on my Stampin' Up business and maybe, just maybe you will see me more "frequently" in my tiny, little section of cyberspace. Perhaps I can increase my average of ONE blog post a year to...oh...let's not get too carried away now...to 1 blog post a week??? I know, crazy, eh?
So as an apology for my lengthy absence, I have for you not one, but TWO projects.
They are both gift card holders and use the Sweet Shop DSP, Mouthwatering stamp set and my FAVORITE new Occasions Mini item: scented embossing powder...sooooooo yummy!I used Vanilla-scented EP on the Wisteria Wonder cone and Melon-scented EP (which smells just like Watermelon Jolly Ranchers!) on the Pool Party cone.
Enjoy the weekend!

Dear Baby Koop,
Please come soon. We have all been patiently waiting for your arrival. Especially your mom and dad. We know your mom has made a lovely home for you and it is probably very difficult to leave but we are all *so excited* to meet you. It seriously must be getting cramped in there so just come on out. Plus people are starting to give me weird looks because I check my phone every hour, hoping for an email announcing your arrival...ok so I lied...I check every 15 minutes. So just come on out. Soon please. So I can make you some lovely gender appropriate blankets. And a card.
Hugs and kisses,
Auntie Cher
P.S. Tell your mama that she should start a blog to show off her spectacular work.

It's Been a Hoot
What a ridiculously insane weekend I had.
Without going into too many details, my weekend consisted of: 2 Christmas Card classes (20 women total), Terminator football championship weekend at CanadInns Stadium (7:15AM!), breakfast with the family at Smitty's, gymnastics, skating, church, work (yep, came in on Sunday), and finally, trick or treating.
And now I am a work to rest and relax. :P
Today's card showcases my current favorite punch: the owl punch. Isn't he adorable? I love that you can change up the color of his torso to coordinate with your card. I also love that you can position his eyes so he can be looking up, down, to the side or even cross-eyed (which was what I was like last night at about 9PM). I stamped the woodgrain background stamp (love this big 'ol stamp) with chocolate chip ink onto crumb cake CS and did a little bit of sponging with choc chip ink to add some texture. I punched out the tree hole with the XL oval punch and the branch that he is perched on is from the bird punch (another one of my favorite punches...ok...who am I kidding...all the punches are my favorite).
Also be sure to check out the new Christmas Bundles at a reduced price! I love a sale! You can email me your order or you can have your order shipped directly to you by ordering here.

Getting into the Halloween Spirit
This card would make a fantastic invitation to any Halloween bash. An invitation sets the tone for any event so if I received an invite that looked like this, it could only mean a seriously rockin' party which would mean I would need to get a seriously rockin' costume.
I used SU's new letterpress plates and the big shot: I brayered basic black onto the plates and ran it through the big shot onto watercolor paper. The debossed image picks up the black ink and gives it a retro feel. Embellish with some ruched black vintage lace and of course, the bat punch.
